Responding to an interest in computer-assisted surgery, the coordinator began a dialogue between the physicians responsible for this area and the two major vendors of this equipment. This resulted in site visits by a number of [Kaiser] surgeons and managers to each vendor. Using the HealthTech draft report and consulting with staff there, a [Kaiser] analyst was able to write an executive briefing to prepare participants for this visit, which provided improved understanding of this new technology and what it might or might not offer [Kaiser]. The next step will be for our staff to assess this technology more thoroughly and conduct a business case for its use.”
