Molly J. Coye, M.D., MPH, Founder and CEO
Dr. Molly J. Coye is founder and CEO of the Health Technology Center (HealthTech), a non-profit education and research organization established in 2000 to advance the use of beneficial technologies in promoting healthier people and communities.

Today HealthTech provides objective technology forecasts, innovative decision-making tools, and expert learning networks for 45 Partner organizations. Partners include nearly 25 percent of the nation’s hospitals, as well as the country’s leading health plans and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, which together cover more than half of all insured Americans.

Dr. Coye has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. She served as Commissioner of Health for the State of New Jersey and Director of the California Department of Health Services, in addition to heading the Division of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, leading marketing and product development for interactive health communication and disease management at HealthDesk Corp, serving as Executive Vice President for the Good Samaritan Health System, and directing The Lewin Group’s West Coast office.

As a member of the Institute of Medicine, Dr. Coye co-authored the reports To Err is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm, chaired the Committee on Access to Insurance for Children, and co-chaired the Committee on Patient Safety Data Standards.

Dr. Coye is on the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association and the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), one of the largest and most creative nonprofit organizations working in international health. She was a founding board member of The California Endowment, the largest private health care philanthropy in California.

Dr. Coye has her M.D. and MPH degrees from Johns Hopkins University and is board certified by the American College of Preventive Medicine. In 2005, she was selected one of the 100 most influential leaders in health care - and the 25 most influential women in health care - by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Marc Larsen, Chief Operating Officer
Marc Larsen is the chief operating officer of The Health Technology Center (HealthTech), an innovative organization that forecasts the emergence of promising healthcare technologies and their impacts on the healthcare delivery system, and collaborates with its Partners to develop and implement innovations that leverage the promise of technology. As chief operating officer, Marc is responsible for company strategy and implementation, research and forecasting, Partner services, business and strategic alliance development, and internal operations.

Marc brings over 15 years of senior executive healthcare experience to HealthTech with special emphasis on strategy, marketing and operations for health delivery systems. In key positions with PeaceHealth, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health Services, Overlake Hospital Medical Center, and Salem Hospital Regional Health, Marc has developed and led large-scale strategy and business development initiatives. He also has a first-hand experience in executing strategy as both a hospital operations vice president and chief operating officer for a healthcare-focused software development company.

Marc holds a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington, and a Master of Science in Business Administration degree from Boston University. He is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives and a member of the Society of Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.

Steve DeMello, MBA, Director of Research and Forecasting
Steve brings to HealthTech over 25 years of experience in hospital operations, strategic planning, systems management and consulting. His work includes serving as Senior Vice President of a major Northern California regional health system, President and COO of a home health care company, and principal in national and international consulting practices in health care and computer simulation modeling. Most recently, Steve served as chief operating officer of a major consumer Internet company. He received a BA in Economics from Claremont McKenna College, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Valerie Steinmetz, Senior Researcher
Valerie joins HealthTech from UC Berkeley where she was a research assistant for multiple projects on visual attention. Valerie's previous work includes associate at the Hermosa Beach Free Clinic's HIV Hotline, associate for UC Berkeley's Graduate Student Instructor ESL testing program and an intern at UC Berkeley's Tang Center Radiology Department. Valerie received three degrees in Psychology, Public Health, and Molecular and Cell Biology, with an emphasis in Cell and Developmental Biology.

Aaron Mintz, Researcer
Aaron brings to HealthTech a diverse background in IT and health care. His experiences include desktop and web based software development for Federal Express, clinical research and database design for the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute, and website development for the MayView Community Health Center, where he served on the Executive Board. Aaron received a B.S. in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University with a concentration in natural language. During his time at Stanford Aaron was heavily involved with Camp Kesem, a camp for children whose parents have/had cancer, where he served as Administrative Coordinator and co-founded the Camp Kesem Outdoor Leadership Program.

Linda Shaw, Assistant to Molly Coye, CEO/HR Manager
Ms. Shaw joins HealthTech with over 20 years experience in non-profit companies – 5 years as director of an after-school program and 18 years as an executive assistant at a labor union, as well as previous work as HR manager and executive assistant in advertising. Ms. Shaw earned her BA in psychology from San Francisco State University.

Laurence Etcheverry, Executive Assistant
Ms Laurence Etcheverry has over ten years experience as an Executive Assistant, most recently in exportation sales management for an international company in Spain. Prior to that position, she spent 4 years working at the French Government Institution, Chambre d'Agriculture des Pyrenees Atlantiques. Ms Etcheverry received her BS degree in International Trade from the French Management University of Bayonne, and is fluent in both French and Spanish.
