Around the corner is South Park, originally developed by “Lord” George Gordon, a British expatriate who arrived in San Francisco as a 49’er seeking wealth and fame, and once one of San Francisco’s most fashionable neighborhoods. Today, South Park’s restaurants, technology firms, apartments, and shaded park are a refuge from San Francisco’s downtown high-rises and busy Embarcadero.
